Opportunity Leaders and Scholars
The Opportunity Leaders and Scholars are a national network of 100 vocal opportunity advocates with personal experience facing barriers to opportunity and a track record of making meaningful change in their respective communities. Acting as community mobilizers and lending their insight to our policy agenda, Opportunity Leaders and Scholars will act as grassroots ambassadors of Opportunity Nation, helping attain our goal of increased mobility for all Americans.
Opportunity Leaders
An Opportunity Leader is an outstanding individual who is making his or her community better every day, without fanfare or the spotlight. Each Leader has overcome obstacles standing in the way of opportunity in their own lives and draw on this wisdom and experience in their current volunteerism or work. We’ve sought to have at least one Opportunity Leader from each state and specifically strived to assemble a diverse cohort of leaders who can share a range of experiences with our campaign.
Opportunity Scholars
An Opportunity Scholar is a promising young activist or entrepreneur striving to increase opportunity in their respective communities and campuses by promoting their vision of the American Dream. Scholars are enrolled as full or part-time students or are young Americans (24 years old or younger) participating in a youth development or recognized service program. Each Scholar has also demonstrated commitment to a specific project to increase opportunity in his or her respective community, particularly for youth.
