Heart of Compassion
Heart of Compassion Distribution is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization located in the City of Montebello. They have been serving the needy for over fifteen years. They distribute to 144 organizations such as food banks, shelters, veterans, seniors, city and school programs throughout the Southern California area. They do this by providing fresh fruits, vegetables and other nutritional foods, and when available furniture and clothing to the less fortunate. In 2009-2010 H.O.C. fed a total of more than 1.1 million people – nearly twice the number they served last year. They secured and distributed 14.4 million pounds of goods and were able to acquire, store and distribute each pound for $0.03 per pound!
